Dick Van Dyke 100th Celebration, Danville, Illinois is Dick’s Hometown:

From Fathom Entertainment, directors Steve Boettcher and Michael Trinklein put together a tribute film to honor Dick Van Dyke for his 100th birthday. The film displays all the fascinating aspects of the uniqueness of Van Dyke. A big component of the film leans into loops back toVan Dyke’s hometown of Danville, Illinois. It even brings up the many elements of what made the legendary comedian who he is today. Especially with the fact that he is very tall, has a high-pitched voice, and has a stellar and classy attitude. The tribute has interviews with celebrities, many moments from classical films, and many inspirational words from Dick Van Dyke himself. The celebration film feels like a tribute of wonders.

The tribute takes a look at how Van Dyke got his start into fame. A lot of which was doing shows in New York, taking on radio station jobs, but ultimately working on his character. So much of the film will remind its viewers that Van Dyke to this day is a man of his craft. Especially because he keeps the positivity afloat while also thriving in his old age. The film takes a look at classics ranging from Mary Poppins (1964), Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (1968), and more. The films that stood out to make Van Dyke become an icon that is still alive today. The film also tackles interviews with many celebrities and filmmakers who adore Van Dyke. They range from Carl Reiner, Mary Tyler Moore, Betty White and many more. The appreciation of Van Dyke transitions from the old era to the present era in a steady form of continuity.

Worth the time?

Although the event has passed, there may be a chance for an encore. But this will probably find its way to streaming platforms soon. It is worth the time for those who truly want to know the backstory of Dick Van Dyke. I had fun with many moments. Some moments feel rushed, but otherwise it creates a positive foundation of a man that still performs like a young stud. The celebration still has gems of wonders.
