My Adventures With Superman (Season 3)

Adult Swim / HBOmax

After 2 seasons, My Adventures With Superman returns with its most ambitious chapter yet. Season 3 expands the show's mythology, raises the emotional stakes, and delivers some of the strongest storytelling in modern superhero animation. While the series has always excelled at balancing heartfelt character work with explosive action, this latest season proves that Clark Kent's journey is only becoming more compelling.

Following up the season 2 aftermath of the Brainiac conflict, Season 3 finds Clark Kent more comfortable with both his Kryptonian heritage and his role as Earth's greatest hero. However, peace is short-lived as new threats emerge, inspired by DC's iconic "Reign of the Supermen" storyline. The arrival of Cyborg Superman, Superboy and Lara Kent challenge not only Superman's strength but also the very idea of what it means to be a hero. Rather than simply adapting the comics beat-for-beat, the series uses these characters to explore identity, legacy, and responsibility in fresh and inventive ways.

What continues to set My Adventures With Superman apart from countless other superhero adaptations is its unwavering focus on character relationships. The chemistry between Clark, Lois, and Jimmy remains the beating heart of the show, grounding even the biggest world-ending conflicts in genuine emotion. Jack Quaid (The Boys) once again delivers a wonderfully earnest Superman, capturing the optimism and kindness that define the character without ever making him feel simplistic.

This season’s biggest standout is Kiana Madeira’s (Fear Street franchise) Supergirl. Kara's ongoing journey to find her place on Earth adds a compelling new layer to the series. Her struggles with belonging, coupled with her evolving relationship with Jimmy Olsen, provide some of the season's funniest and most heartfelt moments. The writers wisely allow Kara to step into the spotlight without diminishing Clark's importance, creating a dynamic that enriches both characters. Visually, the series remains stunning. The anime-inspired aesthetic continues to give the action sequences an energy and fluidity that superhero cartoons should operate on. Every major battle feels larger in scale than previous seasons, yet the animation never loses sight of the emotional beats that make those confrontations matter. Audiences can confidently expect a balance of high octane showdowns above Metropolis and natural character progression amongst our beloved cast of characters.

If there's one criticism to be made, it's that the season occasionally juggles so many characters and ideas that certain storylines don't receive as much development as they deserve. A few supporting players are left with less screen time than expected, and some narrative threads move at a faster pace than ideal. Still, these are minor issues in an otherwise outstanding season.

Nick’s Pick: 9/10 My Adventures With Superman Season 3 is humorous, heartfelt, action-packed, and deeply optimistic, everything a Superman story should be.
